Hi 2016....
Hi Superheroes ...
2016 has been a mixed bag on the whole for the superhero genre..
We started back in February, where Deadpool became more success then anyone could ever have imagined. Then we had 'Captain America : Civil War', which was another good installment from not just the MCU, but the Captain America franchise. Then we also had 'X-Men: Apocalypse'. It had mixed reviews, with the majority being satisfied with it ..
It certainly is one of the most entertaining and is a welcomed addition to the MCU, BUT my big concern is most of people nervous about one element. (Ya. MYTHOLOGY work on screen to fit into other Marvel Movies). We can't underestimate with it. I understood it by the end of it, it got me excited when certain things were happening and it made me think how the other Marvel Superheros would cope with the mystical power of Doctor Strange..
So, this is my free spoiler for you ...

And now we go to new territory for Marvel Studios with
Doctor Strange ! The last time that we know Guardians of Galaxy gave us
one best review and most loved films within the genre.

So, this is my free spoiler for you ...
Doctor Strange is one of the world’s leading
neurosurgeons who, after a major a car accident, is forced to give up his
career due to serve injuries sustained to his hands. After hearing of potential
cure, Strange sets off on a journey of healing to meet the ancient one.
Strange journey leds him to Nepal (Kamar-Taj),
where he discovers the mystics arts. He has to learn the path to power and the
kind of responsibilities it holds. However, at some points he almost gives up
on life and sees no more strength to learn but continues on. Strange trained
how to used the mystic arts and tough about purpose he can serve, Strange takes
a path that will change his life forever.
As, I’ve mentioned before, I’m not familiar with
the character of Doctor Strange in comparison to the likes Spiderman, Iron Man,
or Captain America. That worked massively in favour of the film as I was
interested to see how character like this would fit into MCU and exicited to
see something new altogether within the franchise. I also really excited when I
know Benedict Cumberbatch will be main character on this film. (SUPER YEAY
!!) 😍
Who doesn’t love Benedict Cumberbatch? He’s superb
as Strange. He isn’t straying too far from his Sherlock role here, He’s
arrogant, genius, charming, stubborn and cocky as Holmes. (Thankfully, He
doesn’t indulge in quite so much speed-talking). He’s also mirror image of Tony
Stark. What I love about Benedict Cumberbatch is that he can tackle countless
roles and characters which is what is very clear here, by displaying element
being a jerk becoming strong confident hero and also quirky humorous fellow.
Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) is far more
likable a character, as she only wants what’s best for Stephen, but after he’s
got an accident and loss of his hand, she can only take so much of his crap
attitude/treatment of her before she’s had enough. I love her character so
much, we haven’t seen female lead like her. She’s supportive, but not pushover.
Although she isn’t given a huge amount to do beyond the first act, but I think
she’s quite enough. (She never appears to be in any danger like Pepper Potts
and Jane Foster got into).
Tilda Swinton is fantastic as The Ancient One, she
owns the role and almost unrecognisable. Actually, I can’t understand why
people debate of her role? She lights up the screen and she gives a good
performance. She also looks very impressed as she has gone from none
believer to becoming a learner. (This scene you should see the colorful
kaleidoscope which looks amazing in 3D).
Chiwatel Ejiofor as Mordo, is curious character as
he seems on the side good, but oddly enough his most intriguing scene comes
post-credits, suggesting he’s not what we one thought.
The other thing really that holds this film back is
weak villains. I mean Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius is great actor, isn’t it? He
always being a bad guy. But I think they written his character a little weak.
He doesn’t have a whole lot to work with here. He get one or two amusing lines,
but on the whole, like the majority of MCU villains, he doesn’t leave much of
lasting impression.
Let’s get on with the deep review
....
I think director Scott Derickson does a good job of
directing. The script is generally good but not perfect (The story development
felt the standart Marvel structure that I have seen with many of their
features), though I would say the villains are under written and they lack much
dialogue and character. Whilst the villains are under written the opposite is
true for the heroes, with some really great dialogue for Strange and The
Ancient One. Marvel are really good at getting the tone of the film right,
between humour and seriousness and again they succeed with this film, there are
much scene can make you laugh out loud.
The strongest parts of the film for me were the
visual effects. The film had so much fantasy action it made the head spin. The
ability that they had, they make great use of the abilities are characters had,
and it had moment that even Christopher Nolan would have like to have used in
Inception. I loved those moments as I consider that fil, to be perfect. The
brilliant effects reminiscent of the matrix and inception, coupled with
fantastic action and good story. Ben Davis cinematography is great. Doctor
Strange is very much an effect film and it must be very hard to do
cinematography for a film like this.
The effect really gives much contribution
in this film. The visual of the Movie are stunning. There is a scene in the
beginning where The Ancient One shows Strange “The Magic”. It is absolute
amazing to sink into the world mirror dimensions and things like that. Most
artistic movie yet of marvel ! (You should watch how the perfect foolish face
of Benedict Cumberbatch).
There are two post after credit. Don’t make the
same mistake that a lot people did at the screening. So be sure to stay right
until the end. . .
"Dormammu, I've come to bargain!" (#SavingTheWorld) 😃
